Sou’West Nova Transit is a registered charity that exists to provide low-cost, door-to-door, wheelchair accessible transportation options to Shelburne County residents. Our services include the use of a 14-passenger wheelchair accessible bus, an accessible minivan, a fleet car, and volunteer drivers using their own vehicles. Our bus is also available for charter within Nova Scotia.
“Our home is small 36 bed facility with no transportation for wheelchair residents except Ambulance. We have used [Sou’West Nova Transit] and feel that it has made it possible for our residents or any disabled person to have a fair chance to experience life as much as anyone else. We have had family members book the bus to take their loved one out to attend their husband’s funeral, which would not have been an option before due to transportation limits. Sou’West Nova Transit’s program has added to the quality of life for many people.”Surf Lodge Nursing Home Lockport, NS
“Our after school program offers junior high students an opportunity to experience new physical activities throughout our municipality and further. SWNT provides the transportation for our participants via their bus or volunteer drivers depending on our needs. The success of our programs hinges on a few key factors, one of them being safe transportation. Without SWNT we would not have a means to transport our participants to and from activities…. SWNT has always been each to reach on short notice, flexible with routes and times, and had affordable pricing. Friendly staff are accommodating to our needs.”Active Adventure Program Municipality of the District of Shelburne
